City of South Bend and St. Joe County Moving Permit
Before we begin, here's what you need to know:
1. Prior to obtaining a moving permit, a demolition and new build permit must be issued first
2. You will need to provide a Certificate of Insurance
3. You will need to provide affidavits from all public utility companies, railroads, service companies, and cable television companies with facilities along the proposed route
4. You will need to provide approval documentation from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, the Police Department, the Park Department, the Engineering Department, and the State Highway Department (if route includes any state highway).
Also please be advised:
- Please see the City of South Bend Code of Ordinances for more information
- If you're moving structures to multiple different addresses, please file separate moving permit applications for each end address.
- Receipt of the application does not mean a permit has been issued
- If work has been started without a permit, fines may be issued
